Time for a new Helmet

I have the HJC IS MAX with the Chatterbox system. Love it. Just finished an 8,800 mile ride worked well with my Verizon Droid using it as my gps, phone, and mp3. Had a hookup to run off my battery so as not to drain my blurtooth battery. Otherwise you only get about 3-4 hours batery life. The HJC has a nice indented recepticle to hold the Chatterbox Bluetooth device and cuts down on the wind noise created by the device itself. I like the fullface as it cuts down on the noise factor too.

The helmet did not seem to be too heavy. But I suppose after 8,000 plus miles you get used to anything

No doubt there are better AND more expensive helmets, but it served its purpose and was pretty comfortable for the price.

Its a modular as you can see.Quite snug fit but very comfy IMO. I can put on the
helmet without having to take off my glasses quite easily which i think is good.
Removable liner and interchangable chinpieces, meaning you can adjust the size
somewhat if necessary.Havent tried any intercoms or such as i mainly talk to
myself anway...

Worth checking out i think and not that expensive
 
I really like my previous generation Bell Star, but it's a bit noisy. That was a motorcyclecloseout buy at about 200 bucks for a 600 list lid.

I actually use my 30 year old Marushin on occasion. The Bell's nicer, and weighs a bit less than the old fiberglass 1/2 nob.
 
If you shop it well, you can spot some really good deals on Shoei or Arai.

I always look at Competition Accessories website. The Arai Quantum II helmet I have now (and like) I bought as a leftover new from a MC shop in Massachusetts via eBay for less than half retail.
 
I had an experience with Competition Accessories where something I needed was listed as being "in stock". About the time I figured I was going to receive the product and too late to orderin time for a trip, I get a notice that it is on backorder.

I canceled the order and have no plans of ordering from them again. Just my experience with them.

Have you tried it yet? I'm extremely torn between ordering a Shark Evoline or the Nolan N43 Trilogy. My research so far shows that the Nolan is MUCH lighter than the Shark, however, the Nolan is not as quiet as the Shark.
Also, the Nolan has a tight chin piece where the Shark has more room in the chin.
The Nolan has a greater field of view, more ventilation(which can be good and bad) and the Shark is more plush but a hotter helmet. That's all I've figured out through reading but I'd like to hear from you and what you thought.
 
SHARK EVOLINE! I have never been much a helmet-wearer (although I have several), but about a year ago a friend was involved in a wreck that changed my mind. I was looking for a helmet that offered the protection of a full-face, but with the comfort of a half helmet or open-face. After much searching and trying on, I decided on the Shark and could not be happier. By far the most comfortable helmet I have ever worn, and the full movement of the chin guard to the rear of the helmet works flawlessly and deters the annoying wind noise and deflection one typically gets from most modular helmets. After just a short while of wearing while riding, I forget I even have it on.

Can't go wrong with the Shark! BTW...bought mine from someone on Craigslist for $175 and had only been worn one time...there are great deals out there if you look and are patient.
 
I've had my Shark Evoline 3 for a couple of months now and really like it. It's supposed to be lighter than the Evoline 2 and easier to flip. I know that mine is easy as pie to go from open to full face in a second with one hand, is getting quite comfortable though I do have to remove my glasses when putting it on or off and the inside sun shield is great.
