Time for a new Helmet

how?

how much is your head worth to you? I have a new Arai f/f that cost me $6oo +, its not about the price but features like fit, durability, feild of view, washability, strength, air flow, ease of operation, anti fog and lastly 'look''.With my bike now able to go way beyond my ability, i think its a good investment in my longevity.I think its a big mistake to go for a helmet on 'looks' alone.A pretty paint job aint gonna save sh!t, when youre sliding down the road on ya ass! I learnt along time ago, hunting deer in NZ,if i had $800, spend $600 on a good scope, and $200 on a rifle. Not the other way round.......just my 2.2 cents.......

I've had great service outta my helmet over the years..long rides..short rides and
some in wet and windy conditions..i have no intentions of changing it
Yeah..i know it's looking a bit old..but it's always a snug fit and i can still get a
good shine on it :D

I was kind of partial to this one ;)$4000 Arai Helmet? | Motorcycle Center Blog

I have a long head too,i tried on the Vector2..RX Q...and the Signet Q out of the three i liked the Signet Q the best. What i need is a sponcer:D like all the ARAI riders in the Isle of Man TT and professional racers where money is no object..

I'm a signet Q head as well. Love mine and could never imagine going another route...except I would love a flip down tinted shield...

That's the biggest problen with these full face helmets..My eye sight isn't the greatest these days i've been fighting off getting glasses for way too long . :(

I wear glasses have had them for 40yrs but I also wear contact lenses and have for maybe 30yrs.. great for the bike.

If you dont have eye probs like sensitivity give em a try :D

Will be most interested in your feedback on the Nolan Trilogy, as we are eyeing one as a replacement for the N42 we crashed in June. We like the Nolans.

We trudge on.

I think you are just making an inflated but subtle point here RJ ;)

http://www.msf-usa.org/downloads/helmet_CSi.pdf I here what your saying Rick but $600+ for a helmet is too rich for my blood. They say most DOT or Snell approved helmets pretty much do the same job. I'd be crying the first time i dropped it:(

well it is the helmet I use on trips and I do not use ear plugs even thu I had some of the fancy earmold ones made I don't think the noise is as bad as the Nolan I had before it, this is by far more comfortable I don't think I would have trouble with my scala intercom system but it (the scala) is still in the nolan I used to use it alright in it and it (the nolan) was noiser so i think it come down to personel choice. I have mates who also have switched to the shark and like me love them. the problem with noise is quite often people compare flip up helmets with Full Face Helmets, the noise is partially generated in the overlap area of the fliping section and can not be avoided:)

Hanso, why don't you use your earmold plugs? Did they reduce the noise by much?

They do reduce the noise a bit probaly best way pf descibing them is they take the higher pitched wind noise but still leave the lower pitch wind noises, mine have the specialtubes which connect to tiny inline speakers which then plugs in to the iPhone, the problem is just they themselves annoy me, after an hour or two I just gotta take them out it seems I have touchy ears:rolleyes:
