since my JD special is in limbo ( in need of new bearings ) and since the moto shop is busy at this time of the year I am looking at at least a month before I can go riding I love my green bike and with the new stuff it will be just as good as a new one BUT a month without it is in this country pretty much end the summer .......... therefore I am ogling a new 2014 at a reasonable price. however I cannot afford two bike SO if any one on this forum would like to buy my 2006 green ride (35 000miles ) for $5000 I will pull the plug I should mention that this 2006 has many many upgrades here are just a few Wilbers (expensive)suspension front and back . ramair filters, jardine exhaust, flyscreen, eastern beaver kit with PC8, odyssey 680 battery new tires front and back, and more that I cannot think of right now
i have a complete full page available for a serious buyer plus all the extras from the upgrade kit I purchased
 
I'd go for it. Its nice to have ABS and the new Roadster peg position is really good especially if you add highway bars and pegs to give more options. Gotta love the LCD displays as well with gear indicator and stuff. I say go for it!

yes agreed ........... but got to have a buyer commitment!! for the 2006 classic

If you trade it in towards a newer bike, you will save on the taxes for the new bike... That could end up being something that will make the deal better...

The problem with your bike, not that its a "problem" is that you've customized the crap out of it and a lot of people will not see it as you have, you've got an extreme paint job and stuff.. that makes it harder to sell in the long run.

It's the same reason when you buy a car, you don't buy a car in pink or fiery orange or something because when you do decide to sell it, it wont sell nearly as easy as a black car or a white car....

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that your bike is so customized that finding that ONE person who will go see it and go "Holy crap! Thats exactly what I wanted, a John Deere Motorcycle version of the most heavy, outrageous motorcycle ever made!" will be a very unique individual who would of been looking for something specific like that, versus someone who just wanted a black bike.

Trade it in towards the new bike, start from fresh again, and have all the nice new features.
 
Maybe by the time you get JD fixed and sold, the 2015's will be out
 
yes I have mulled over that situation I am aware of the "custom deficiency syndrome" I cannot trade it as the one I want to buy is in the state I was thinking along the line of somebody might buy the green one for parts

yes BUT I have a super offer on a 2014 hard to resist, yet I do not want two R3 in the garage if the shop could fix my green one this week I would keep it it is just that the summer will be gone by the time I get the bike back the upgrade kit is supposed to show up by month'end if by then the shop still cannot give an idea as to when I will take it back and swallow hard and fix it myself since rocket scientis done it and jake shaw also done it I may with luck be able to as well
 
Wouldn't let the fact you have painted it an 'uncommon' colour make you think a discerning buyer would not be more focused on all the improvements you have made to performance and handling. A $600 paintjob would get it back to a more 'common' colour .. just my thoughts.
 
true again might be a way to get regular buyer into looking at it in a positive way..
