Tamper Proof ECU's

Hello to all, first off I just lost my local Triumph Dealer! He did not want to spend 100,000 on displays and accessories, cant blame him I would not either, he only sells about 28 bikes per year. Sounds like Triumph is starting to be like H.D. forcing dealers to become I guess I would call it elegant! (more like corporate B.S.) anyway I was thinking of upgrading, trading in my 2008, but if the ECU is non adjustable then I will keep my 08. Last I heard from my dealer he was looking into it and all new Roadsters He said where locked up! My question is does anyone know serial # when that started or build date? are all 2013 locked up? I remember him saying something about A1 and A2! Or are the 2012 Roadsters ok for mods?

2012's should be fine from what I have heard even early 2013 are good to, I am sure someone that knows for certain will chime in
 
When you say "locked up" do you mean a piggy back system like the PCV won't work with this type of an ECU? If that's true were all screwed, as you can bet all of the other M/C manufacturers will go to a tamper proof ECU system soon.
 
not sure if it will stop PCV as the PCV does not actually change the ECU Mapping just modifies the info before it gets to the injectors

Seems to have changed...

My understanding is that there are new rules in the EU that is requiring the ECU to be locked. I thought it starts 1/1/2014, but not sure... but that some OEM's were rolling in the change throughout this year.

I have to ask why would you want to get rid of the 08? Just curious as you have a year that Triumph still used great colors everything after 09 gave you the choice of black and primer black the new ones Triumph splurged on and started add a couple stipes for color. One thing for sure even though the 2010 thru 2013 can still be programed I have noticed they are the ones who have the most ecu problems. Mean while guys like Ian have over 100,000 miles on theirs. His is a 06.
