Hi Guy's
I am having a problem with my 05 that I am assuming is the primary tps.

I will sometimes start the bike, and she is idling at around 2000rpm, switch off the ignition, restart her and the normal 850rpm might be had, or sometimes several restarts might be needed before normal idling is had.
She may then run fine, or in a few miles I can feel the bike pulling in low gears and the high idle is back. The problem is also getting worse.

If I fitted a new tps, would I need to reset anything for it to work?

I do not have a Tuneboy or anything like that fitted,
Or do I have to take it to the dealer to fix?

Thanks Graham

After you're done adjusting the TPS to it's correct voltage, you'll want to reset the ISCV to adjust to the new TPS; I've neglected that step in the past and had worse symptoms than I started with. TuneECU or TuneBoy is a must unless someone here knows how to reset the ISCV w/o the tool/software.

Dealer can do it for you, but the software tuning program is the way to go.. enables a lot more flexibility too, like throttle body balancing, better tunes, removal of speed limiter, diagnostics & more.

You know... I have got to say that my bike will very infrequently idle to 2000 rpm as Welshie has described. Turning it off and on re-mediates the issue. Maybe the TPS but seems to be so fleeting of an issue... I am not really sure; but now going on 20K miles I'm living with it.

On the other hand; if it did it all of the time.. I'd be TPS shopping

Thanks for that guys.
I have ordered a cable from lonelec, and have downloaded drivers from tuneECU,
I don't seem to be able to open the tune files that I have downloaded though.
Is there a idiots guide to do what I want somewhere as I am not very computer savy and all this looks very complicated to me.
Sorry for being such a dunce.
