Thanks for the post. Mine's started doing this with some regularity...strangely, if I rock the bike in gear, she'll fire up. This may not be my problem, but it's sure worth a look! :Tip-Hat:

Ok fellas So, here it is... Decided to tackle the ignition connector today. The sure-seal came in the mail yesterday. Looks like a great product the body of the connector is high temp rubber and both sides have both male and female pins. The pin diameter is way-larger that what was in the stock connector. This is good.
After peeling back some of the electrical tape the triumph tech used to hide his shoddy work, I found they had overheated the wires with a heat gun trying to shrink the environmental splices they used to replace the original connector. (I am assuming this was part of the upgrade kit. I had this done A year ago last june). The wires were all bird-caged and the insulation was completely broken down and gummy.
So the first part of the operation was to cut away all the bad wire and remove the harness. Fortunately I left a lot of extra wire when I relocated the ignition.
Next was the tedious part of soldering all the connector pins onto the wires because did not want to pay for the crimping tool. Next I inserted all the pins into the new connector being careful to match them on both sides of the connection.
All was left was to splice the connector back into the harness using environmental splices I purchased at Home Depot. I was able to do this without overheating or damaging any wires. Imagine that?

See Pics below

This is the old connector with some of the damaged wiring.

Working great now, Starts when I push the button. Also noticed no static noise from the stereo anymore.

Cheers

You are right about the connector it is from the upgrade kit. I have one that came with mine but was not installed by Gus I think a lot was not installed. His theroy seemed to be if ints not broken don't mess with it. He gave it to me anyway. I figure this is why you find a lot of this wierd stuff in stock at Baxters. Simply put they must not aggree with what Triumph states should be put in during the upgrade. Plus this make turn around time faster if they only do half the kit. I did however have to order exhaust and other various bolts to replace as they vibrated out from not being tighten during the work. Hell I had to replace 3 of exhaust bolts just from the trailer ride home from their shop.

Mine is still running well in the tranny area which is what failed. I still would use them for service if they were not so far away. I do look forward to going to one of their big outings. They do have a lot of goodies on the shelf which you don't find at other dealers.
All in all a pretty good place.
