Spring 2010 - Rocket Launch - Kentucky

Maybe so. I read somewhere a couple months or so ago where the Salvo name came about. Don't remember what it was about. Maybe something European? Just can't remember. I know when I first saw it I saw there could be a confusion. So perhaps it is just a Texas Twistie Get Together with out the twisters? :D

Ok. I just looked at the dot com site and they are talking about a Salvo in Australia. So perhaps Native One's weekend in Texas is for the ones of us that can't go to Australia. So maybe I screwed up thinking it was part of the RAA series. My Bad!

The .com site has had a couple of Salvo events. The early ones were up in Pa and the last one was out in Lake Tahoe. Then, of course, there is the Australian Salvo. Native1 had proposed a Hill Country Salvo for last fall but had to delay it while he was building a new home.

This site is the home of RAA, and now the Rocket Launch events.

Since many of us are active on both sites, it's nice to have options. I, for one, will probably be attending the Hill Country Salvo since I can visit with family while I'm there. I'd like to make a Spring Launch but probably can't do both.

I am going to have to wait to commit to either one till after first of year. I have to see what the on-call schedule is for next year. And on top of that I think my co-worker is looking at retiring at end of year. So have to wait and see if she goes through with it and what kind of replacement for her if any.

ok steve you can put me and stb in for now know we cant make the salvo but will try for ky

Native One may surely have brought the .com "Salvo" over into the lighter side:D

I believe the consensus was to keep RocketsAcrossAmerica a .net focus. Crossovers are never omitted. There are many confused but en-lightened peoples:D

I just don't have time for much anymore. Hell! I got yard work and honey dews to pick and fences to mend:D

I just wanted to say thanks to you Steve for getting things started for 2010. Hats off to you for all the work you have put into the 2009 events. I am glad you are on top of things. In my area, there are not many good roads or points of interest. Keep up the good work. I am sure, if schedules allow I will be on board for 2010.
Dave

Absolutely, thanks to you and yours Cowherd for our very successful 2009 RAAIV!

And there's no time like the present to develop a RAAV plan, or multiples thereof.

I'll be glad when my work over here is done so that I can go to one of these.

So far KBR has lost all contracts in Afghanistan which means I may be working for Fluor Daniels or DynaCorp after the beginning of the new year. By that time I will be closer to my financial goals...but if the pay is lower (and for DynaCorp I've heard that it is...and they are getting the south part of Afghanistan which is where I am at) I may come home earlier....anybody got a job ($2,500- $3,500 per month at that time would probably make me end it over here)???

So with that wrinkle in the works I may be able to hit a rally or two next year, since I missed the one in Eureka Springs I've really felt out of touch with my "riding" side of my interests I like to participate in. I even thought of taking a ride up to Michigan to see Flip in his natural habitat...but that driveway of his scares me:).

If I am still working (and KBR could be extended as DynaCorp may not be ready to handle the big job they seriously underbid for) my next R&R would be after March 16th so that I can be home for me and Florence's 30th wedding anniversary and after that the next one would be after July 16th. By that time I will be finishing up here and at most have, hopefully, only a few more months to go (November is the END...period, I will be home for good by Thanksgiving).

I'll keep an eye on what's being planned, you may finally see me show up at one of these things. My only problem with rides with lots of curves and twisties is I like to stop and admire the view and take pictures.

Good luck on the planning.

Dennis
