SPEEDO, Diagnosis not good.

Have 2005 planejane Rocket with 53000 miles. D&D exhaust, K&N's and tuneboy.
Lost speedo last ride. Also lost the warning lights and speedo and tech sweep when turned on. Also had code 1500, vss problem. Tested vss and seems fine. Tested wiring per service manual. Did the update on the wiring for gauges. They tested good but had the new connector. If one of the connectors are unplugged from the ecu then everything works fine but the speedo sweep. With everything connected using Tuneboy and the testing the tech, again everything but the speedo. I have checked and a number of people have had the same problem but no one has posted back a fix. I'm 95% sure is the speedo, but. I even took the speedo apart and it looks o.k. The ignition switch is working fine for now. Have plans to replace or go keyless not sure yet. Any help is appreciated. If anyone has a good one lying around let me know.

I am just taking a guess here but when you leave the smaller of the plugs off is it the smaller plug Harness "A" ?

I am thinking if you clear the 1500 error code and it comes back and you have checked the harness wiring for shorts. Then if the error is still coming up your speed sensor problem is in the speedo itself. Possible a short in the motor ?

Code has not returned. I have unplugged both the A and B and I think both at the same time and the lights work and the tech will sweep. The voltage readings that I was getting on the wires go to the ecu were about 4 volts different from each other. Thats why I took the speedo apart. The board and connections liked fine, no burnt area and it smelled o.k.. Has far has speedos go. Have you ever seen a fist size chunk of clay with a really tight rubber band around it? I'll leave it at that.
