How’s it going everyone?! 2020 r model here. Been trying to figure out how to mount soft bags on this bike for whenever I do long rides. The bike has been on some long trips. I had some soft bags that I mounted up but the problem is the soft bags sag on the sides and on corners the edge of the bags rubbed the tires and rubbed a hole in the bags. Just got another cheap set to try to figure it out again but wondering if anyone has had luck and how you mounted yours? I refuse to pay triumphs prices for the stupid factory brackets for the panniers. I can find decent deals on the panniers themselves but nobody sells the brackets and triumph wants almost $500 for the brackets alone which is absolutely ridiculous. Thanks in advance. If yall wouldn’t mind posting pics of your setups that would be great.

Well, if you had a GT seat I could give you some ideas. I took the passenger seat off and bolted on a plate of aluminum. Then you can mount bags to it. I have small ones for local day rides, and bigger ones for multi day trips. These are early pics. I have different size plates now. But you get the idea. Maybe you could get a GT seat? Or maybe the R has a seat like that? Not sure.

Oh nice that’s really cool! I dig it. So I have a bag I can strap to the seat but it’s the soft throw over saddlebags I have problems with. I forgot to take a pic of how the bags sit on the bike for reference. I’ll do it tomorrow. The throw over saddlebags dropped over the sides and rub the tire. Still trying to figure that one out

Or there's waterproof bags of the same style.

If you made an aluminum plate like I pictured, the exact size of the width of the "tunnel" it should be pretty stable with some straps
