I have not been to happy with the so called horn on my 06 R3. We have this massive machine that when you want to say to your neighbor it sounds like it belongs on a childs tricycle. This past weekend we went to a BMW rally in Eastern Kansas. I have a lot of old friends there, and got a lot of nice comments. Going out to town a deer stopped in the middle of the road. I was going slow , so I honked the horn at it. Tis deer just looked at it like it thought it was one of the local frogs.
Question is anyone know of a good replacement. Not the semi truck sound ,just something use-able .

unlike most captains who mounted the stebler behind one side panel I went for a dual air horn with compressor branded FIAAM same as ferrari I poster some pictures on this forum somewhere check it out . I placed the compressor where the original horn was and routed the air line behind the rad and bolted the two horn on the rad bottom shroud
facing away on each side.

you cannot see them unless you pay close attention the water does not clog up the horns and the sound is just what the doctor ordered. total cost around 120 bucks

I just used a replacement car horn I bought at Autozone for about $10 - $12 and mounted it, without the cover, where the old horn was located. Nice and loud but not too loud if you know what I mean....way better than the stock horn.

And I agree with you that the Rocket deserved a lot better horn that it came to the dance with.

My sickly stock horn was good enough to get a cow moose to turn tail and stay out of the way yesterday. It would surely suck to hit one of those, their body is so high up that the Rocket would probably go right under and I'd take the full brunt.

You can buy a zillion horns and they'll all sound like a rooster with his neck in a strangle hold if you're using the stock wiring. To get the sound (even the stocker) where it belongs get an Eastern Beaver horn relay kit. You'll get all 12 volts if you aren't moving and just over 14 if you are (the ole charging system should be working), since it hooks the horn directly to the battery (the OEM button actuates the relay).

My 2 pennies. (and I have 2 horns + the OEM):eek::D:D

So is that THREE horns total? What are the other two?

One loud horn works for me.:D

The horn that I pictured is using the stock wiring and was still very loud. However since I didn't have the relay wiring mod for the ignition switch...no telling how long that might last.
