First off, I removed mine forever ago and have had ZERO problems,
But hanging around my dealership recently I heard of a customer with idle and other problems and the dealer discovered the secondaries had been removed, and is under the impression that the (stepper?)motor is tryign to spin the secondaries and its encountering problems.. I'm not sure if the rods/motor that spin the secondaries are capable of spining 360... I would think they are open and close only, but in theory I guess they could depend on the throttle plates them selves to "stop" at the closed position

I wish I could get my hands on the bike to check for my self but obviously I don't work for the dealer, I did explain Id be willing to hook up my tune boy check for errors and if the customer paid for the unlock code, set the secondaries to full open electronically...

then at least you could determine if that was the problem....

any thoughts..? I'm fascinated by the complexities of this bike and although I do not claim to be an expert on them, I try to suck in all the knowledge I can and filter the truth from maybes...

Secondaries should be fully open at idle anyway. Nothing the secondaries do would affect idle, except they partly close on start up then open once running.

I didn't notice any stops for the secondaries so plates or no plates shouldn't matter. How would the secondary stepper motor know whether or not plates are fitted?

it was a theory floated by the dealer, that the rods were "spinning" and since there plates were not present, the rods were not coming to a stop..

and that could be why the bike was not runnign correctly/ check engine light code etc...

My imediate thought was " I don't think so" but then again i do not make a livign off working on bikes, just a common enthuisiast.

just floting the idea, I didn't recall any stops, and in in theory any such stops would disrupt air flow making it highly unlikely...

would be easy to see if it was the problem start the bike with nothign on the Throttle bodies and watch the rods....

should also be easy to reset the rods and clear the error....
