Salvage title question

Last time I had a salvage title on a vehicle I could only get liability insurance no comprehensive or collision.

I asked my insurance company and they said getting it covered won't be a problem as long as it has rebuild title. Ill have to double check but from talking to a friend that used to work for insurance company you can get comprehensive coverage but pay out in case of a crash is at least 1/3 less than a bike with clear title.

If licensing to get it back on the road proves to be too much a PITA you could just part it out and get your buy back money back assuming it's not some ridiculous amount. I've bought cars back before and it was years ago so have no idea what it is now but the figure $300 is in my head. I say go for it.

multiply that by 10 and then add $1500 to it, that's how much they want for it and its non negotiable, so that's why I'm asking all the questions I can before I make final decision. By the end I can have my rocket back all fixed up for $5500 and I know it will be done right, but on the other hand I can get a older one with clear title for few grand more. Hopefully I'll have better idea what I want to do Monday.

Don't know if this helps with your decision but there is a 2014 for sale in Kansas for 10999 with 2400 miles on her. Al

I was thinking that was way too much, but then I realized you had a '14. I'd think $5500 would be a very nice price to pay for a 14!

Especially just after I got the bike set up way I wanted it. I know there's nothing major wrong with it, tank exhaust and bars took most of the beating, replace those, touch up the nick in the engine case, few oddball pieces and it will be like brand new.

Pull all of your usable accessories off of it and cut it loose. Rockets go pretty cheap these days with a clean title. Not worth the effort IMHO

Talked to several people with similar situation and all of them said after they bought their bikes back the title remained clean. Not sure if it's different insurance companies have different policies or the person I talked to didn't know what they're talking about. Either way I'll be calling them tomorrow to confirm.

Sounds like it best to talk to your local MVD and insurance company. In Arizona if a insurer declares a vehicle is totaled they have to send MVD a notice and your title is pulled. To get a new title it requires an inspection and the title will be marked as rebuilt salvage. I checked with my current insurance agent and he can get full coverage but would need to have an adjuster examine/document vehicle before writing policy and they will set the value. Apparently each insure has their own policy concerning salvage vehicles so ask around.

I bought my Sprint back off my insurance company, I retitled it because I changed the colr, plus I was curious, it came back clean. Technically, in NY they ask if the vehicle ever suffered damage equal to 80% of it's value, the math came out to 79$ on mine, even though they totaled it.
