I want to install some running/brake leds along the bottom edge of my bags this winter and was wondering if anybody has done this already and could offer some advice/pics?

Thanks in advance guys

I have 10 rows of white LED's various places on the bike all wired to the low beams through a three way switch. My only advice is that if you are wiring up anything but LED's, use a relay. Anything that uses amps over and above whats already there could damage the ignition switch. They seem to be the weak link in the electrical system.

Thanks for the tip.
Will post when I get 'em done!

Hellfire, do you or does anyone else know if the weak link you mention persists if one has installed Rivco's ignition relo kit?

X,
It's still the same ignition switch. The weak link is the switch itself not where the switch is located.

It's safest to build in a relay for any other the aftermarket wiring jobs.
I added an additional fusebox so that I would have multiple attachment points. The fusebox is driven by a relay so it only draws power when the ignition is on. The ignition circuit just powers the relay, the power is drawn directly from the battery via a fused, heavy gauged wire.

What year did you get? R3's with steering locks can't be relocated. I know anything newer than an 08 can't be relocated, not sure about 07's.

Thanks guys, especially to my "cuz"! lol

I figured that the relo kit included a better than OEM, upgraded ignition ass'y... my bad. Reckon I'll have to go the preventative route to accomodate a headlight modulator, Signalminder, TailBlazer and ultimately, nicer, upgraded LED signals with a R-T-B controller.

I have Knightriderz on my Tour Pack which would be a similar install on bags. You would just need to run an extension of the Brake/Running light wires into the bags and hook em up. They run with a pattern at all times then flash when breaking before they go solid. Very visible!

Installed the headlight relay with a kit I made myself, really easy. Wanted to install relocation kit but can not find it in stock anywhere. It appears its not made anymore?. Has anyone made their own kit, if so what parts would be used.
Install the little S.O.M.A 4" LED's on my Corbin bags for rear and brake lights and they look great. need to change the bulb in the main rear light to LED now.
thanks guy's
