We were in Branson a few weekends ago and the amount of new visitors to the area is at an all-time high, at night the water parks are full until they close.
Extreme humidity has diminished motorcycle traffic a bit now, but once the weather starts to normalize in early to mid September motorcycles will represent the dominant out-of-state visitor. Partially because everyone will be hard-pressed to get in as much riding as possible, and that BB-BBQ will be starting two days after on the 29th.
I'm trying to shoot for this. Is the camp site at the same location? I PM'd Barty a couple of weeks ago and he was game but I haven't heard from him since. I will most likely have to trailer up since I'm bringing the Missus. But it's OK, I'll put Harley stickers on the fuel tank so no one knows. Har! Har! Har!

I rode to Sturgis with a couple of friends back in 2006. A kind of roundabout route through Colorado. On the way from Colorado, we passed a Kawasaki ZX600 with a giant duffle bag and a smaller rider.. it was really windy, and his little bike was riding sideways trying to go straight.. We pretty much blew by him.. and stopped later for lunch.. for about an hour.. then pulled over to top up gas before heading to Rapid City. At the gas stop.. The ZX600 we had blown by earlier pulls up.. The rider pulls up to a pump behind us.. and takes about three tries to get his leg over the bike to get off.. and pulls off his helmet.. Here was this old guy riding what he had to Sturgis! We talked with him a bit.. and he was 70 YEARS OLD! We still all hope we're that tough when we reach that age!..
