Harley is going for the 'current' cool factor. You ride a new HD so all the people will say "Wow look at that Harley guy with the sweet ride and matching Doo Rag". They don't care for the past motorcycle gang references. Triumph is going for the 'retro' cool factor. "That Triumph looks like the one Steve McQueen and Marlon Brand rode, they were old school cool." Everyone has a gimmick.

Triumph does have a similar program. You can get different colour body pieces for several thousand bucks......and you get to keep your old ones.
