2020 rocket 3 gt
Hey everybody, how's it going? I just purchased a rocket three GT the other day and I'm finding the seat a bit too low. I would like to see if anybody wants to trade there R seat with my GT seat.
I'm thinking my legs perhaps aren't long enough for the forward pegs because the seat is a bit low and not forward enough.

$250+ to gain maybe 1" ???

You can bring your controls backward a bit from factory and slightly higher by adjustment; and increase pre-load to 3clicks from max- free options

The better option IMO is to fit mid controls. I did on my GT and its the best tweak you can make - much better investment than new seat albeit more expensive. Hope this helps

:Edit - I'm 5'8" with 33"inseam - Only on full lock turn is the handlebars 1" or 2 short with reach, so slight stretch when u-turning. Other than that the mids on GT is 99% perfect, anyone taller and it would be perfect. I've also raise my mid to the highest position. Seat high is definitely not a problem.

Yeah, maybe you're correct, I'm starting with handlebar risers. If that doesn't work, then I will get the mid controls. And I guess the last thing I will get is a seat. I was just looking for trades here. I thought maybe people would like the GT seat. I ordered the risers, they should be here within the week.

For reference:
I'm 6' 3" tall with a 35" inseam.
My riding style is both 'sit back and relax' on a long trip and 'hoon on the twisties' when i'm in the mood.....which is getting more of a regular occurrence now i'm more used to the bike.
I run with mid controls and GT handlebars.
I have both R and GT seats. I prefer the GT seat for comfort. (yes, it's lower but it's a bigger seat 'front to back' for your backside and is more comfortable just for that reason alone).

I find my set up pretty good.....could be better, but i'm happy with it, all the same.

My ideal set up would be for the same size the GT seat as but raised up by 1" and some bars that are half way between the R and GT.

Final comment..... I believe that my set up will be good for anyone shorter than me, but probably less so for anyone taller.

Hope that helps in some way.

Okay cool, yeah I'm 5'11 I just find the triangle to be a bit off. I'm fine with sitting back and actually even with the forward foot pegs. But having the feet forward with a low seat and reaching for the handlebars is doing a number on my lower back. So I just got some rox risers to put the bars back 2 inches. I did the same thing on my Honda fury and it solved the problem so we'll see how this goes.

I have tried the stock GT set up, which fits me ok, but I just don't like the feet forward set up for hooning around, as I can't shift my weight around when cornering quickly.

Also, I felt like my feet were sliding out to the ends of the pegs all the time, which was not a good feeling. Maybe that could have been dialed out by adjusting the foot peg position.....not sure.

The biggest No No for me was the feeling that I was a sitting duck for every pot-hole that the rear wheel hit......the shock through the seat was unavoidable with feet forward. Not so with the mid-controls.

Yeah I might get those mids. Do you find that your knees are really bent at you're height? Either way, I think the reach to the handlebars is too far. That's what's giving the back pain

I wonder if there's any way to get the seat taller or if there's any aftermarket taller seats. I know I could probably go to an upholstery shop and have them beef it up. Actually I may just do that, I have an upholstery guy.

My knees are bent quite a bit. That's true. I thought I would get lower back pain or shoulder pain on a long journey, but that hasn't actually been the case. I'll admit that i'm a bit surprised by that. It's one of those things where you have to try it out and see how things work out. We're all built slightly differently.
One thing I can add to my earlier comments, and that is, that I don't find the bike all that comfortable on long trips if I travel at higher speeds, as my torso is taking a lot of wind force and in that riding position, it's not good, hence the reason I would prefer handlebars somewhere between the R and GT. That would help some.
