2012 roadster
Hi Guy's
Had a Roadster out for a couple of hours while the Tiger was having it's second service.
Can anybody tell me what upgrades were done I believe they included clutch and tranny and also ignition
switch..can owners tell me if they have had any issues and regarding the power increase I know I haven't
ridden a Rocket for about 14months so it's a bit harder to compare.. but it didn't feel much different to
my 09 standard. However there were to things that were noticeable the riding position suited me and it was good to be back on a Rocket ;)

Ray, we all know you'll be back on a real bike soon enough. No point trying to compare a Roadster to an '09; the increase in power was just a 'claim' and more than likely intended only to offset the extra weight from the 2 goofy feet exhausts with cats in each one, and the slowing effect of painting them all black. '09s are the undisputed best and most powerful Rockets. :)

The press release claimed the Roadster has another 5 kilowatts (roughly 7 horsepower)over the previous model. Then goe's on to say this was acheived by fitting a better flowing exhaust and minor ECU changes to suit. So if you have a free flowing exhaust and have had the thing dyno'd you'd be making more power than a stock Roadster.

So are we saying there weren't any upgrades to the clutch and tranny and also the ignition switch..i thought the power felt about the same.
Didn't they take the restriction of the first 3 gears ?

Sorry Ray, I can't recall the changes. There may have been something more than cosmetics. ABS is the one that sticks in my mind and the awful riding position (although I see you like it - plenty do). The restrictions are apparently removed on the latest one (late '13 and 14 models with the stripes). Not hearing loud acclamation about it though; bit like the claimed increase in 2010. I derestricted mine years ago with a GiPro anyway. I've ridden a couple of previous year's Roadsters and there's no way they have as much on the throttle as mine. In fact they feel sluggish. Maybe the new ones are better.

This is from 2 wheels Jan 2010.
There is a worthwile power gain, with maximum power going up by 6.7kW to 108.9 at 5750rpm, while peak torque is increased by 14 per cent to 221Nm. The clutch and driveshaft are strengthened to cope. Other engine changes include revised camshaft drive to reduce noise and a gearbox tweak to improve selection.
the riders foot rests have been shifted 123mm backwards and 22mm down. The instrument panel has included a clock, gearposition indicator and fuel gauge.
The rear shock springs are 20 per cent softer, with damping adjusted to suit. The Roadster adds ABS as standard fitment.

Triumph's big triple is even torquier, more comfortable, better braked, and has more giant-triple character than its predecessor.

I had to put that last sentence in for Richard. He can decide wich half he wants to believe.

Fuel Guage including distance remaining
Gear indicator
Rear suspension
ABS
Foot peg relocation
Exhaust system
Seat
Black paint (mat or gloss)
White or red stripes
Clutch and brake levers
Internal engine upgrades
No comment on the hp increase
That's about all I can tjink of right now.
Hope it helps

I kept the magazines I read when I was looking at the Rocket just had to find them. One has a good write up on a fast rocket Lush'y had built.
