I reckon salt air must get to them. I hardly ever clean mine and they look like new 4 1/2 years on. I have used Purple Polish a couple of times and they really shine for the next year or so.

Yes it does.

We don't live on the Gulf, but up the river pretty close.

My rear wheel has some corrosion in less than a year just from the salt air I guess, and it's been kept under a cover on the carport since brand new.

Mine were pretty bad when I got the bike. I tried a few different cleaners and polishers from the auto store. Then I tried the Purple Polish from California Custom. I spent 2-3 hours on the rims and they come up great. Now i just wash them and they come up nice and shiny. I give them a quick polish 1-2 times a year to keep them nice
None of the corrosion came back and the shiny surface repels the dirt and brake dust better than before.
I sound like I'm selling the stuff but I wont use anything else now.

Used Purple Polish to clean my very grotty wheels once .. a long time ago , powder coated them shortly after that from memory , prick of a job.. they came up like new though. Sold through Mac Truck Dealerships here in Australia.

How much do they charge for a bottle? Ive been getting it through a place where my son works. I get discount but it is still expensive,but like you, I can say it works better than anything cheaper which didn't work.

over this side of the country its about $25 a bottle, I get it from a truck spares place called Maxi Parts, they have branch's all over

I get it a bit cheaper,but not much. I guess its worth it as you don't need much once the rims are cleaned up.
