Returned Tire to Avon

Avon Reps wanted to take a look the the cracks that showed up on the Avon rear tire I've been using. Ordered online so had to return through a local dealer. No problem with the dealer, he is handling everything. Don't really know how long these thinks take so mounted another one. This tire has about 4K on it and should go another 4K I believe. Greased the splines while I was at it and added the washer to the front brake lever. Here's a picture_
 
Just an update from AVON tire to my cracking problem: They agreed that it was a tread splice and shouldn't be visible, but no quality problem present. However it isn't perfect and a check for $350 arrived in the mail. Now that's service , even though it took a little time to sort it out.
 
It had delaminated at speed and exploded. They recalled a batch of tyres because of it.
