It depends on your riding style, your weight and your budget.
I'm primarily a commuter and long distance tourer, 300+ lbs, and a cheap SOB. The Progressive 418 HD's work great for me. No, they are not top of the line but they take away the harshness of the stockers. I also have the Progressive front springs and they, too, are a vast improvement over stock.
Can't insult what you can't see, note the bag hangers? The bags hide the shocks. I would have gone with the chromy springs if they had been available when I ordered the shocks, but there was only one distributor in the US at the time. An as in all things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. (In this case it's my butt cheeks think they are things of exquisite beauty.)
