On the R3T, I believe it goes like this. You just pull the left side bag. Then remove the retaining clip from the retention rod. Slide the retention rod out and remove the pads. You then need to compress the pistons in the wheel cylinder to make clearance for the new pads. Assembly is just the opposite.

Not trying to be cheeky but if you have to ask that question I would recommend you let a bike shop change them for you. On the std Rocket you can change the rear pads in about 90seconds.

Took me about a half hour because I removed the beetle bag so I could get to it. The manual was stating to remove the back wheel that's why I asked. Much easier than the 10,000 mile valve clearance check.

Come on Scot, it takes 30 seconds to hunker down there and another 90 seconds to get the retainer clip out. The it takes another 90 seconds to get your stiff arse back up in a standing position.

Yeah, but you have to remember that Scot will just go to my bike, remove the entire rear brake assembly and put it on his bike.

Why would the book tell you to remove the rear wheel, I can see what all the confusion was about;)
Dennis you have nothing left on your bike the only thing left is the oil stain where your bike was sitting for so long:D
