While cleaning my bike the other day I noticed the rear brake disc has some play in it like it is loose. I thought about going by the dealer to get my hand up in there to feel one on the floor before I go complaining to the mechanics.

Floating discs means the outer ring the pads grip aren't solidly fixed on the inner hub. These are common on most bikes now so the odds yours discs move a little is probably fine.
I would say I know a ton of useless stuff but mechanically I'm 'underserved'. I had no idea the disc brake floated or sank for that matter. You and I Mel got through life on our superior good looks but I wish I would have paid more attention in auto shop class.
