radiater coolant

just got rad fixed on used r3. tried to find post on coolant suggestions. no luck. any advice out there. my dealer uses a blue coolant from bmw dealership--for aluminum motors?? thanks--john

there was someone saying that the engine ice coolant helped with the high temps, most larger dealers carry it or can order it online.


I was thinking of swapping to it this summer..

Any brand name is good, they are all the same thing, The BMW one will be fine :wink:

Just make sure it is one of the "long life" coolants and does not contain silicates as motorcycle water pump seals don't live long otherwise.

In auto's, there's a big difference in the green vs. orange and what they will do to your radiator over time.

i bought zerex g-05. phosphate free. 15 bucks a gallon. and you can't even drank tha stuff!! even with a mixer!!---ha!! will run this til somebody tells me different. feedback welcome.---thanks--john

Dear.....deer....... who cares, let's get a drink. I am the one who needs a drink. I am out in the boat house winterizing the boat. I am behind schedule, good thing I have had the heat on or the block (LT1) would have been froze solid. The lake has 3inches of ice. Oh well, back to work.
