need more ride captains...

Tdragger has put together a ride for Saturday and Sunday but we need more volunteers I would like to keep the groups rides as small as possible this year to help with the timing and ensure safety. I am also working with American Ride Maps on setting up a booth in the morning and evening to assist those of you that are not fond of group riding that would like to venture off on your own.

Where's the fun in crashing by yourself ?

here are some ideas........

I have been to a few FJR meets............they come up with 8-10 routes...a local pre-rides them to scout potential problems...then they post the rt's in map and gps form with rt descriptions well in advance of the meet.

Then riders decide which rt sounds good and which day to do it and with who.

A lot of seasoned members know who they are riding with in advance but the newbies are sort of last minute hit or miss.

My idea is to have a minimum of 6 rt's planned in advance...with descriptions, maps and gps info.

3 rt's would be geared for more leisurely/shorter cruising and 3 for more spirited/longer rides.

The same rt's would be ridden each day (Fri, Sat, Sun) by different people, so each of the 3 days each person has the choice of a faster or a slower rt choice and also a choice of who they ride with.

To avoid the last minute "what to do" problem that FJR newbies had, we could plan things in advance via this forum........no need to be super strict......last minute changes of mind would still be fine.

OK......if you understand what I am saying,,,,,,what do you think?

Thats kinda what we did last year but we only had 2 routes each day and with 50+ bikes the groups were just to big .... I think we need a minimun of 3 route a day if not 4 to keep the groups to about 10 bikes...... less stressful and more enjoyable for all involved..... I have tdraggers route info and lunch stops already... if you have some routes you would like to coordinate please send them then we can discuss what day you think they fit best for your schedule ..... I assume you are volenteering :D I am hoping they we can get enough Captians and routes where I can set back and enjoy a leasurily ride with the wife or one of the groups so we can take Pictures and run support in case their are any emergancies or breakdowns..... with that many rocket in one place its almost for certian someone will have a ingtion switch fail.... we will arrive a week early and check out the road and the lunch stops if anyone wants to tag along that would be great

Call me dumb, but I thought the idea was to get a bunch of Rockets together and go riding ? I didn't want to have to hire a personal secretary to keep track of my riding schedule. Just my 1/2 cents worth

I know it's not really any of my business, but I'm with Rocket Scientist; it's not meant to be Rocket Science. :p

OK...that settles it. Let's see 100 bikes....can just "go ride" on Friday.

On Sat & Sun some can go with Tdragger & the rest can just "go ride".....

We don't need no stinkin plans......
