I thought our daughter was the only person in the world who has six cats.
 
I'll be there, not sure yet if I'll ride or fly, but probably for the whole thing, maybe start in Northern California the week before if I ride.

A ride up the coast instead of I-5 would be great. Not knowing how familiar you are with riding the west coast, take Hwy 36 out of Red Bluff to 101 at Hydesville and then north. 36 is an excellent road with many great curves and a few switchbacks as I recall. There is only one gas station as I recall though. The last time I went through was from 101 to Red Bluff and the darn station had been closed because of the forest fires raging in the area. I limped into Red Bluff on Rocket fumes in 108 degs. The funny thing is that we'd had to put on jackets had rain gear in Brookings, OR on the way down.

All beautiful roads. I recall my girlfriend back when I was in high school driving my VW bug from Sacramento to Redding and then 299 past the Whiskeytown Dam, to Douglas City, Weaverville and on up to the Hoopa Valley Indian Reservation to stay with her father. He was a forester for a logging operation and mill on the reservation.

All that was closed down years ago in the name of environmental protection, like most of the logging operations in northern California as I recall.

Great memories though of a stunningly beautiful area. I'll have to make that part of my annual northern California ride. I still have family east of Sacramento and visit once a year. June would be best though for cooler temps.
