I had a 2008 R3T. Here is the list of issues I had within the first year and a half of ownership.

1. Mirrors would not stay tight. Ended up putting loc-tite on them.
2. Blown head gasket right at 5000 miles. Fixed under warranty.
3. Tires recalled/replaced at 5500 miles.
4. Gear position sensor (GPS) recalled/replaced at 5500 miles (same time as tires).
5. Gear shift lifter shaft snapped in half 50 miles into a trip (Maggie Valley trip a couple of years ago). It was repaired under warranty.
6. Bucket stacking. The bike did this from day one. It was a tapping noise that would start after the bike was warmed up. It was most noticeable at low speeds (no wind noise to compete with). It was considered acceptable by Triumph because, according to them, it wouldn't hurt anything. It was not fixed under warranty. I didn't persue it any further; thought process being if it ended up breaking, it be a warranty claim.

I sold the bike a little over a year ago (Dec 31, 09) and bought a Thunderbird. The Rocket is the only Triumph I've owned (have owned 4, currently own 2) that's given me any issues. That said, the main reason I sold it is because I could never get comfortable on it. The ergos just didn't fit me and nothing I did to the bike helped. Admittedly, however, having all of the issues certainly made my decision to sell even easier.

Frankly, I'm actually thankful for the issues (how often do you hear someone say that?) and for not being able to get comfortable on it because I now have a Thunderbird and love everything about it.

Good luck with your decision!

Please excuse my ignorance, what is Bucket stacking???

Hell if I know. I'm an Accountant, not a mechanic. All I know is it makes strange tapping noise that's similar to valve tapping. And, apparently, it's nothing to worry about according to Triumph.

25,000 KLM ON MINe only issues were

tyre recal,------- and unlike most i'm getting good mileage out of the metzlers 10-12 thous on the rear , at the moment 14 on the front and still plenty left although first set only8500 on the rear and front the rear wore down the front had some serious cupping , now running the front at 38 has seemed to stop it.

gear sensor recall ------but i was'nt having problems

Clutch cable snapped ----fixed under warranty , the lever end frayed and snapped , personaly , i don't think it was triumphs fault , i had the risers on and rerouted the cable rather than buy a longer one , i think its just that teeny bit short , I've took them off and will put them back on when i buy a longer cable.

Summary great bike NO PROBLEMS
