Ok, anybody know where the O2 sensor is on the exhaust system?

My bike's previous owner who was 'less than kind' to the machine, had a Power Commander on it, along with (I believe) aftermarket pipes (which have since been removed and replaced with the stock pipes.

As the bike is now running like a fresh turd, I'm wondering if he left off the O2 sensor and just had a bypass plug installed. This might cause the bike to run crappy??

As I meantioned in your previous thread, if the PCIII was removed and the bypass left on it could cause problems.

The O2 sensor is the thing with the wire coming out of it in the exhaust down pipe.

The O2 bypass is the black and white thing. I have also seen them all black.

So I guess that it's possible that even though the O2 sensor might still be installed, there might be a bypass on it as well?

First, check to see if there is one in place. If there is follow the wire up to see if it is plugged in. If there isn't one in place, which there likely is to be a bolt in the bung, then look for a bypass.

My understanding is that if the 02 sensor is installed but not plugged into the harness that it may not work when reconnected due to no power supplied to the plug while it's in the hot exhaust. Anybody know for sure?

Pigr, do you know what size the o2 sensor takes for a bung plug off the top of your head? I knew at one time and forgot, I need to get the sensor out before I foul it beyond use just in case I ever use it again.

The O2 sensor has a heater in it that keeps it clean. If it is left in the exhaust and disconnected it will likely be too fouled to work.

An M18 oil pan drain plug works. An old spark plug will work too.
