reading all the common issues I feel a bit left out, I sit on my 06 classic start it up and ride and ride and ride. My bikes only got a little over 12000 miles but it runs great and where's all the mechanical noise i've come to expect from sitting on top of a large displacement engine. reading about all the problems can mislead bikers considering a change so I just want to say my bikes a champ.

I have to agree... I had a persistent issue with my 2013 roadster ONLY after I installed a power commander... turned out to be the firmware on the **** PC. MY BIKE has been completely wonderful and no mechanical issues at all.

You're not alone Steve. The whole point of a Forum like this is for people to discuss issues about their bikes. Nothing annoys me more than someone coming on here and saying they're worried about buying a Rocket because of all the problems people have. Fact is people like you and me don't post up positive comments each time we ride. The few problems I've had are not a reflection on this bike at all. I ride mine every day. Every day. In 3 1/2 years, apart from those times I've been out of town, there's perhaps a dozen or so days I haven't ridden and I've never been left stranded. Best and most reliable piece of machinery I've ever owned. And easily the most rewarding.

12k on an 06?

ok....

Frankly, you haven't quite reached the mileage where a few of the issues begin to occur. If you are still on the original primary TPS, you could see the high idle issue manifest in the next 10k or so. Hopefully not. Also, if you haven't fitted the headlight relay kit, you are on borrowed time as your ignition switch is likely to fail at the most inopportune time (like sitting outside the biker hangout surrounded by hardlys).

Seriously, I'm glad that you haven't had any problems so far and I hope that you don't in the future. Just providing a reality check that you haven't quite reached the mileage yet where things might let go.

About the mileage I traded my storm with 14000 miles from last year for this rocket with 11000 miles about 2 weeks ago I average 15000 miles a year and was going for a new r3t when I found this low mileage gem I figured it may be an 06 but to me it's only 9 mos old

sweet find. you should have great service from it.

The two items listed are the most common issues with the early models. Do the headlight relay mod for sure. Hopefully the tps will hold up. Most do.

'06 Classic SE purchased in '09 with just under 3000 miles. Currently 22,000 miles, darkside at 6,000, new metzler fr at 8,000, new dunlop fr at 16,000. Metz cupped badly, so far no issues w/Dunlop. Headlite relay at 6,000. Original battery which is kept on Batt Tender over winter in unheated garage. Fluids changed each spring. Starts and runs great. May think about first factory service at 30,000.
Issues: need turn signal beeper. Wish Triumph could figure out self cancelling like some other bikes.
Have added driving lights, floorboards, custom removeable backrest/rack, leather bags, airhorn, Clearview screenw/vent, one off trailer hitch, engine bar and footpegs, cell phone charger outlet.
Love the bike.
