Question about Noise while releasing clutch / Clutch Jitter / judder / Grinding noise

that plate with the smaller friction is different than the rest.
Dang, why can’t they make it easy and stamp #’s and a little note…
“Numbers face towards inside of engine, plates #1,1 go on first followed by #2,2,2 and then #3. #7 is the final plate. Thank you for purchasing our product!” Am I missing something, um, other than how many plates and how many have matching sizes? 😇

@Journeyman if you havent thrown away your old clutch plates, can you please measure triumph clutch plates, the steel ones

here are the hayabusa / suzuki clutch plate specs

Suzuki 21451-24F00 steel driven plate:

  • Outer Diameter (OD): 151 mm (5.94 inches)

  • Inner Diameter (ID): 126 mm (4.96 inches)

  • Thickness - 2.0 or 2.2 or 2.3mm

  • Internal Teeth: 30 teeth

Type 2 clutch plate -

21452-31J00 / 21451-31J00
Shares the same 151 mm OD, but has a larger 135 mm / 135.8 mm Inner Diameter to clear the wave washer (judder spring) at the bottom of the clutch basket

Measuring the actual plate with the groove (one of 8), not the tracing..... I only have a cheap plastic caliper that will go that large and I was reading between 150 and 151mm for the outer diameter, but a more accurate tool for the size of the teeth and spaces between.

If we were to go with 13mm from the outer edge to the space between teeth (like in your picture) and 151 is correct on the outside diameter, that would make the inner circumference 151 - 26 = 125mm.

The thickness is 2.0mm and there are 30 teeth.

We're only off (maybe?) 1mm on the inner circumference. Are those your measurements, or something you found online? If yours we can both recheck.

Assuming those specs were to match, I'd still be concerned about a possible slight variation in the shape of the teeth.

Have you pulled your clutch yet? I'll tell you, with all the trouble it takes to get there it was worth it to me to just replace everything. I thought about just taking a new plate from the kit (and reusing it with the rest of the kit later on) for a red hot second, because I'm a cheap so and so, but I didn't want to have to go back in there again any sooner than I needed to. Just my two cents.....
