Not sure if I hate you or want to be your best friend! Seriously glad to see somebody taking care of classic bikes to preserve them as far to many have been left to just rot away.....they deserve a better end than that.
YOU know all the ones I own are a blast to drive and I enjoy riding them as they are all low mile classics in very good condition and they only go up in value as the years go by and been lucky to have ridden almost every bike made over the years

At the age of 12 the very first bike i rode was my dads old BSA Bantam. At the age of 16 back in 1976 i purchased my first new bike a FS1E DX.At that time i had lots of mates around the same age who had bikes Honda SS,AP Suzuki and FS1E etc..In 1976 it was one of the best summers in UK history,so great weather great mates all riding bikes doing what we want when we wanted,It was the start for me of what i think riding motorcycles is all about..FREEDOM.
I will never forget i had been out on my FS1E and on retuning home my dad said lets have a go then.So off he went down the road and me just thinking he would be back in a couple of minutes well half an hour later he returned ginning from ear to ear..He could not believe the way that little 49cc bike rode and compared it to his old Bantam.

Bikes i have owned...FS1E,XS250,XS750,GS1000,XJ750,XJR1300,GSX1400,GSXR1300,ZRX1200,Aprilia Tuono,...present day ZX12R, GL1000 Project and the Rocket.

For me the late 70s and 80s was a time of some great motorcycles...GS1000,CBX1000 Z1300 GT750,Laverda Jota Triumph Trident to name a few.....My favorite looking bike being a Z900 although never owning one..

Sorry for going on a bit guys..

I agree late 70s and 80s had some great machines. I liked them because they had tons of grunt but were still a little raw and overall were a joy to ride. Might be rose coloured glasses. But I think I just described our R3s, which explains why we own them.

My '06 VMAX is the bike I miss the most. It was number 26 on my list of bikes in the past and the first I bought new and first street bike that I crashed. It's pure acceleration from the stop was absolutely exhilarating. It is just not the right bike to try to move a mountain with. That the only draw back I can think off. Oh, and the inability to carve corners like the next bike, my rehab FZ1. That bike was incredibly fun too and help rebuild my confidence after totaling the VMAX. However, it is not the right bike to hit a fawn in a corner with. What is with these Yamahas that they can't move mountain or slice through small forest creatures without being totaled?
