Playing in the shed

CLAY I still own 3 KZ1300 Kawasakis a 1979 ,an 81 and an 82 great bikes that seemed so big years ago but are small compared to the ROCKET

Those were indeed unique motors worthy of collection. Only made for about 10 years, as I recall.
I did a lot of riding with a colleague who owned one back in the middle eighties.
I enjoyed riding it, but twas NOT a handler and my 85 900 Ninja could grease it.
If I had the choice today, I'd choose the KZ1300 for my stable.

The best pre Rocket bike i owned was my 1972 GT750 738cc inline two stroke. I had more fun on that bike. I really abused that bike and it never let me down. I sold it to a friend of mine who still has it in his barn. I'm thinking if he still has it after i retire, I want to buy it back and restore it. I have to admit for my height and weight nothing is more fun than riding the Rocket...

I lived next door to three brothers that were bike nuts. The eldest was a bike mechanic that ride a highly modded GSX 1100, the next brother owned two GT 750s one modded the standard. Definitely one for the she if I can find one one day.

When I was younger and sillier than I am now, a group of had an impromptu race up a windy section of road in the region. Got to the top toward the middle of the pack and one of the blokes was a bit suprised. He came over and said "didn't thinks these things handled?" My reply "they don't" I had to man handle it all they got a good workout and it was a hell of a lot of fun.

The Z1300... dream bike of my teenage years. Still nice to look at - and a blast to ride, for sure.

I had many bikes, but when I look back the first thing that comes to my mind is my old GSX1100L, the rare cruiser sister of the Katana. I think it was a '82, and I had to renovate it completely when I got it in the mid 90s. Badass cruiser.
My Valk was also not bad at all, but I sold it in 2004 or so, after eating the dust of a BMW M3 on the German Autobahn.
In the early days I had a Goldwing 1000, very nice to remember that one as well.
Your GSX 1100L would have been a really great bike. Always liked that era of Suzuki. I had a GS 1000 and the GS 750. Both great old things.

My favorite bike that I used ride was a 2001 Daytona 955I. That bike made me love the 3 cylinder motor, and ultimately into the roadster!!

Yeah three cylinders have always caught my attention.

I held the national record with a 1981 KZ1300 10.9 @ 124 mph and the bike would run 150 mph top speed thats faster than a stock ROCKET

Not stock, I bet.
Mine was blueprinted, slotted cam gears, Dyna Jet carb goodies and lobe center timing tweaks.
Perhaps even some porting but my memory is foggy there . . .
