Output Bearing?

Well, it's a week later from the time I dropped the Rocket at the dealer... I called them today to check on the progress. They said all they know is that the problem is in the rear end. (I knew that too) They haven't had time to do anything else yet. I asked if I could get an idea of, "How Long" till they know more....and he said they are really backed up.

I love the bike.....but I'm not sure I can deal with the service if it's going to be weeks/months to get fixed. (Only 4700 miles and short riding season in Chicago) I'm going to be patient for now.... but I am already thinking about buying something else. It just may be the service that will hurt this product. With all of the cars I have owned in my many years of car ownership, I never waited more than 3 days for a full report on the problem. I know I'm not comparing apples and apples....but I guess my expectations for a product at this price point is high.

Trying to keep the faith.....

Hang in there. It sounds like your service delays are your dealer's service problems more than anything that of Triumph. You'll have the same backlog at their shop no matter what kind of bike you have. Don't you have another Triumph dealership to go to? The Chicago area is a big town. Suggest to your dealer that you'll take your bike to the next dealer for service from now on and I bet they'll get to yours sooner.

Sometimes it is worth going a little farther to a less busy dealer. The service shop at the closest Triumph dealership in the cities here failed me more than once so I patronize my current dealership which is 30 minutes farther away.

I'm sorry for your back end problem. You probably have the same problem that Captn Rich had since he is in the same area. These manufacturing errors tend to go in batches since the defect would have been made in bikes made at the same time and then shipped together. Good luck and speedy recovery.

Thanks for encouragement. I did check another dealer though, he said 6 weeks. That dealer also suggested going back to the place of purchase. Since it 's under warranty, I figured I'd deal with the point of sale.

I'm going to try and keep the faith and they get a pass this weekend as Chicago weather will be wet.

That sucks, Jim. I'd recommend my dealer MCC but they're backed up about 3 weeks, although they're slotting me in for a rear tire change on June 9. Which dealer did you call?

Just a question. In the U.S you have to go to the place of purchase to have your bike repaired under warranty ?

No you don't have to go to the point of sale ...but the place of purchase is a little more beholding to you than a dealer you didn't make the purchase from. It seems that there is a backup at all the dealers here in the Chicago area. In the past, I have done all of my own work. I never purchased a new bike before (with warranty). Also...I have never owned a "high tech" bike before. My personal take on this early life failure is that it shouldn't happen...and if it does...the dealer should bend over backwards to take care of it. I'm not feeling the love...
