I was lucky enough to become Blackies owner several years ago and went through wheels and brakes and rode that spring and sumner. Rode it to the West Virginia raa and had a few issues arise, detent spring broke, no problem just held pressure until throttle pressure takes over, but cables breaking were an issue, mc cruise broke and return cable broke on throttle. Well ole sparky59 used some ingenuity 😁 and i rode it home, broke detent spring,, clutch slipping in 4th under hard load, yeah i trusted sparky59 so much i enjoyed the 575mi ride home, strait thru. Well after getting home Blackie had to sit a minute. Now its time to get her back to 💯. Starting up front, headstock bearings, forks worked, forks leaked on brakes, brakes 😂, calipers and pads i tell u what. All cables, all brake lines, new clutch pack, new oil, new coolant. That will start this deal. Fuel sytem will be next, tank filter, fuel lines, i have clean injectors ready. Hopefully this dont take too long.

Im retired Bill and trying to get a scrubber business going so i have a little time right now.
Oh thats great Kevin. I've been on FMLA/disability from August to February for side effects of my cancer treatments. All good now. Back to work for the Month of March only. Retire April 1. Can't wait. I have really enjoyed being off for the last 7 months. Going to be extra happy April 1st.

Thanks guys. Upgrades to needle bearing pressure plate. Going with suzuki kit again, same as carpenter puts in. The steel stack is 6mm taller than oem and the fibre stack is 6mm shorter than oem. Steels are massive on suzuki kit.

Went from part# ending in 1050 yellow springs to part# ending in 1201 blue springs, they are stiffer. Blackie is stock so no more clutch springs needed than the blues for touring.

Wow that's a non updated engine from the looks of the detent wheel and a 04-05 series clutch.
For safety if I were you I'd drop the sump pan for cleaning and inspection. It would suck to put her all back together and ride around wondering how the torsional damper bearings were holding up.
Just a thought.

Oh and congratulations on your retirement.
