I got the estimate on my '07 R3 Classic today from the Triumph dealer in MD where the repairs are going to be made. The initial estimate from Geico was $3300, the dealer says it's $5200 and it sounds like Geico will make good on it. The major components that are being replaced are the saddle bags, rear fender and lights, rear tire, right floor board and windshield plus a bunch of little things like exhaust tips, mirror, front signal light, etc. I feel like they gave it a good going over and there's no structural damage that could be found, although the bracket holding on the radiator was bent which is worrisome. The damage comes up to about 55% of the retail value of the bike. I wanted to ask the forum what would YOU do once it's fixed? Just keep it and ride it like always? Sell or trade it? What bothers me most is that although it appears that the damage is basically cosmetic and all they will be doing is bolting on new stuff, it will always be a wrecked bike :( even if it comes back better than it was. Thanks, and basically, bah humbug.

I look at bikes different than cars since there isn't any structural sheet metal being repaired/replaced and wrinkles covered with bondo. As long as the frame is straight and all the damaged parts are being replaced, you will now have a 4 year old bike loaded with brand new parts. (A ball peen hammer on the other tins would have helped) ;)

I vote *KEEPER*

+1

keep it and enjoy the new shiny parts.

My brother had the Harley(previously posted) which fell off a U-Haul truck..spent 6300.00 to repair...he now is enjoying his brand new used bike!! No problems, enjoy yours, it's nice and shiny!!

When I was at RAA 6 last month, a couple of folks mentioned that they were surprised the original saddlebags on mine were still holding up, it should be noted that they don't hold up to a Nissan Murano. I'm also glad to be getting a new Avon on the back, the current one has about 5000 miles on it, still is (was) in good shape for that many miles. To the doc in the morning, back is out of whack. All in all, I would have rather just bought a new Avon on my own when the time came..

I can't believe that I missed you at RAA 6. Where did you stay?

I stayed in Candler since the Holiday was booked up when I tried. The owner said there was a cancellation and I could have stayed there but my motel in Candler was non-refundable. I did the Tail of the Dragon that Friday and rode with the Rainman group on Saturday, left Sunday morning. Got the little dragon decal for my helmet, but that was another casualty, guess I need to go back and get another one. :D

Keep it.

Also take the list of parts and go over the bike top to bottom with the mechanic . The shop missed a couple items on mine after my wreck.
