OK Gi Pro Guru's

I have been chatting up my new GI Pro but I have just now had a chance to take it out and run her up to 130mph to make sure that the GI Pro had indeed removed the speed limiter. Much to my shagrin at about 130 the bike started coughing acting like it might be starving for fuel. I can for sure tell the difference in first and second gears and prior to the GI Pro being installed the bike would only run about 125 or so. The bike now at least will hit the 130 mark but.

My bike is a 06 Classic with a Corbin fairing with Jardines and factory air filter, the GI Pro set at the best setting and a Triumph tune done at the dealer after the "upgrade kit". I have read that the 06 Classic's where limited more than other bikes and I wonder if this has anything to do with it? Or am I going to have to get a PCIII in order to see 140 or better? If thats the case then I will wait and get the new PC V.

Any ideas??

Does sound like the "mods" may be taking away from the full effectiveness of what the GI PRO is supposed to do. Just means you are going to have to Tuneboy or PCIII (or PC V) the ECM to get a better working relationship.

For me it's different, I'm not all that really up for doing 125+ all day long, I just want to blow out in the first three gears for rapid acceleration (and hopefully not do a 360 wheelie doing it) on occasion as, to me, it's fast enough as it is.

Good luck, I'm sure the "calvary" will come to the rescue as soon as they wake up and hit the computer in the morning (it's 0945 in the morning where I'm at but only 0115 am EST/0015 CST).

I'm no guru, just a couple of questions...

(1) Have confirmed from the manufacturer that the product is intended to remove the top end speed limiter, or are you going by 'what someone said on a website'?

(2) Have you confirmed that you have connected it correctly to remove the speed limiter, if indeed the product was intending to do so?

Sorry I'm not of more help... I went the Tuneboy route.

If you are still running the stock air filter set up it may not be getting enough air. I never ran into the problem on the R3 since I already had the triples on it before the GiPro, but I used to have a Honda Night Hawk S that would do what your describing at high speed when hit by a cross wind (alot of cross winds back in Kansas). It was like the fuel was being turned off and on but actually it was the crosswind sucking the air from the filter location. Since the stock intake location for an R3 is behind the seat and with your big fairing, maybe there's a vacuum forming under your butt? Just a thought. I guess you could pull off the air plenum like when you took out the secondaries and go for a top end run with it off to check.

I sure hope he doesn't have a vacuum forming under his butt! That could get really ugly, not to mention painful.

Sounds like it doesn't remove the rev limiter. In 5th gear is starts cutting spark and fuel which is why you felt it cutting out. In the lower gears it is a rev limiter, which you can bounce off of. Only way around that might be Tuneboy.
