2006 Rocket III
My 1st bike gained the nickname, Find-a-flat, mainly due to getting flats on 3 rears during it's lifetime. However the 1st didn't occur until 5500 miles. Last Saturday I decided to head for the beach for a little surf au bod when the all too familiar heavy steering became evident 3 miles out. I limped it home and went to the Auto store and got some slime as it was just a staple and didn't want to ream it out for plug as the holes were so close together. I have the usual mushroom plugs and CO2 setup as well as the rope type and associated tools in my saddlebags. This at 3100 miles. So, Find-a-flat II has arrived.:(

Bob I think you have a magnet stuck up some place where the sun does not shine, I will be scared to go to sleep at ES in case my fillings jump out of my teeth.:p
Are you going on the dinner ride this saturday?

Absolutely! I want to see your rig for the horn. I have to have one. Advance has one suspiciously like a Stebel but different brand. Still from Italia so I'm guessing the same thing. Come over early and I'll treat you to a soda at my place, a short distance from the shop.

12 Volt Air Compressor with Gauge (COMP 02)

This is what I've got, the compressor is priceless. Well, my compressor is different than this I cut into the cig lighter and picked up the same connector that the battery tender uses at NAPA and spliced it in so it has both cig and battery tender as power sources built on to it. I took the other end of the plug I got at NAPA and wired it into battery clips, so I can connect to anything (I stop to help a lot of people along side the road).

I've used it at least 50 times and it's never failed me. It's a bit slow but air in the middle of nowhere is air and it sure beats a hand pump. $18 at NAPA.

I've used the slime gel product as well but I believe there is a chemical difference between the auto and the power sport versions. (Not sure though)

I've seen the Washington State Patrol use this on their bikes:

Slime Power Sport Smart Spair

But, they usually plug their tires using the Slime brand plugs.

The compressor is a bit smaller than the one I use but it doesn't have a gauge, I've got to have the gauge, especially when working on the rear tire.

From 0-35psi with the one I have on the rear tire, it takes about 10 minutes to fill. Better than 3 hours waiting for a tow truck.

I've thought about the SmarTire system as well:

My Slime compressor fits in the stock air box under the seat so if you're triple filtered, it's a perfect spot, bagged or not.
