No washers required for bevel box drain and fill plugs?

Currently changing my rear differentials gear oil. Took the drain and fill plugs out. I'm surprised to see that there are no washers installed. I take it that no washers are required for bevel box drain and fill plugs? Didn't see any mention of them in the Rocket III repair manual either on page 6.3

Well, I took my rocket for a nice hard spin today after changing the differential oil and checked for seepage a couple of times after the fact. No seepage. Guess the manual is right......
