So after plugging adapter to the hella socket, then compressor. No action. (All tests with motor on) Plugged known working garmin in cigarette lighter socket, no power. Got mutimeter (DISCLAIMER: I know little about electricity!) and put black probe on side of socket, red in center, no movement on meter. Removed adapter, did same with hella socket, no movement on meter. Does this sound like a dealer visit? Thanks!

To rule out error in testing with multimeter, can someone verify what setting I would use on this one please....

Did you check for a blown fuse ? I think they are under the seat. Take out one at a time to check.
No I didn't but will. But... just because visually fuse metal strip not broken does not mean not blown. Had one one time. But will check as mostly visual test must work. Thanks!

yes that would explain no movement that side is ac power ,same as your house . Other side is DC power.

Just tested again with correct setting, no change. Only hope is blown fuse I guess, will check after work. Thanks Kipper!
