When riding I always carry a telescopic baton (illegal over here and the police call theirs an ASP for some reason) in a cargo pants pocket. I have used in anger at a couple cage drivers who decided they wanted the particular section of tarmac I was occupying for themselves.

Have been stopped by the police and explained it was an "adjustable pry bar" and also handy for emergency breaking of a car window if one goes off into the Fens around here (the Fens are a very flat area of land reclaimed from the sea in East Anglia) the roads will be dead straight for miles then suddenly do 90 degrees with no warning and as all them are accompanied by water filled drainage ditches there is always some chav in one.

So I'll take my chances spotty on his moped.

Just been reading in National newspaper about a new threat to motorcyclists in the UK. It seems that moped riders block in bikes - spray fire extinguishers at bikers and then steal the bike. I personally would have no hesitation to mow down a moped if it was deemed to be trying to steal from me. Does this happen in other countries? What would you do?

I personally would have no hesitation to mow down a moped if it was deemed to be trying to steal from me. Does this happen in other countries? What would you do?

Seeing as most of the guys I ride with carry guns, we would see to it that they had some FIRE to go with their extinguishers...

Haven't heard of this in the US but if you are trying to steal or harm me expect to get lead poisoning.
