2007 rocket 3
Been riding the rocket since May 2007, a couple of tps sensors, ignition switch, and many tires.
It's been great till the first weekend in September about two hundred miles from home, went to shift
into 2nd gear from a stop light and got neutral and a shift lever that was not hooked up to anything
in the motor.
Got him home in a trailer and to the shop the next Tuesday, still there is no word from dealer on when it'll be done. Parts were on back order and supposed to be in by October 21, they do have the repair bill up to $4200.00 with new stator and a bunch of other parts they say I needed. Probably should of parted him out and got something else.
O well thanks for listening, and HELLO ALL from sunny California.

you sound rather casual at the tally

G'day and Welcome .. what did the shop tell you was wrong with your bike ? Are you the original owner of the Rocket ?

Welcome aboard, 60K good time to join, this gang will keep you runnin.;)If i had a dime for every time i heard dump it before it self distructs i could pay your repair bill.
60K of fun is worth the repair.

Sounds like the detent spring issue. I don't really understand why a stator is involved as it is on the other end of the engine and yours sound like a mechanical problem, not an electrical one.
Use the private messaging features on this board to reach out to idk69 and warp9.9. They are the most knowledgeable stateside about this issue.

Yes, that's one of the "issues" that has kept me from buying a pre-2009 Rocket...2nd gear, cam tensioner, headlight/ignition switch, and a few other parts that were part of the Triumph "upgrade" that they covered for bikes that broke down from these known problems. They no longer cover them, so I'm looking at newer R3s.

But hey, you got 60K miles Many bike motors won't last nearly that long.

They wanted to replace the stator cause it was kind of blackened and they were already in the engine.
I wish it was only the detent spring but it was part of the shifter shaft. When I get the parts all back (with the bike eventually)
I'll take a picture.
As far as price, ya what can you do it is what it is.
I'll try to negotiate a little if it ever gets done.

If it is a part of the shifter mechanism then make sure that the bolt (or nut, I can't remember off the top of my head) that is supposed to be tightened up with loctite is tightened correctly - and the correct loctite is used. Otherwise you will be doing all this again.
