Nice thread!
I use Easy Brackets so I can remove bags and shield in like 5 minutes.
Prefer the nekkid look; but, NOT a bent over RKTNMYPKT nekkid!!!!!!!!!
I also use a nice magnetic tank bag which allows me some amount of handy carry space for day rides, while remaining nekkid.
Since my wife doesn't ride I purchased the Kriega US 30 and 20 liter bags which fit perfectly to the pillion seat. These things are so cool, waterproof and the way they mount together is extremely well thought out, they don't move once strapped down. On and off the bike in 5 minuets.
Must say I'm in 2 minds about having 2 bikes like that. I have a relationship with my bike and ride it every day. A bit weird but nothing sexual I promise. If I go away on a trip, I want to do it on "my" bike. Loading up a Touring for the long trips somehow just wouldn't seem right.

Depending how much luggage you need, one option for those with the real naked look and just a single seat would be a magnetic tank bag sitting on the rear fender. Not talking about carrying large amounts of gear but for your lunch, rain gear, wallet or a few items from the shops etc it would do the job and be unobtrusive, easy to remove and no need for a rack.
