Naked...or Dressed!

Are you a jet jockey, a wrench or what, Dawg. I just noticed your locale...
Actually Im a soldier, almost 28 years now. Im in the electrical mechanical engingeering branch and my trade is electronics and optoelectronics technician/technologist. Over the years Ive worked with a many of folks who turn wrenches for a living. As of this past December I transitioned from full time Army to the reserves as I prepare to retire from the military all together. Touring on a motorcycle is relativly new to me but Im looking forward to the experience. My wife doesnt ride and after 28 years of military life she is not used to me being home so much so she gave me the thumbs up to finally purchase a new bike and told me to go have fun. Great Gal!

Thanks for the G2, Kevin and sincere thanks for all of your years of service! Sounds like they've got you busy working on The SkyNet!

Listen, my friend! Assuming that you have some decent riding experience under your belt, I would still caution you or anyone else to become thoroughly familiar and comfortable with the Beast's performance envelope and handling characteristics. I came over to an R3 after nearly 7 years on two different 1800cc machines and with over 40 years of total riding experience and it still took me several months to become thoroughly acquainted with, truly comfortable upon and confident in this machine with me, its operator (the process is much akin to The mating Game!). She is known to eat unprepared riders up in the blink of an eye, brother!

Wishing you many, many miles of smiles and happy trails!!!

Thanks TriumPhil and duley noted. Everytime I crawl aboard, and due to where I live it has only been a half a dozen times so far, I do so with the understanding that this machine has the ability to react to an unprepared and or unexperienced rider without forgivness. I figure if I treat her with respect and ride within my limits and resist those times when you feel like you can take on the beast because you feel comfortable, ill have many years of riding. I have a few years of experience under my belt on various machines but nothing like this....I think only people who have mounted a Rocket would understand that statement.
Hope to meet you all at an RAA one day.
Cheers

Naked... I wish I could easily remove the hard bags, and brackets and such... I do not even like my bike with the windshield...

I've had mine almost 4 years, I was just getting used to her, now, with the Carpenter kit, I admit, I'm a little afraid of her again.

I kinda got the removal of the stock bags and brackets down to about 15 minuets. All I did was drill holes in the bags right behind the fender rail bolts. Just large enough to pass the Allen driver through. Therefore I don't have to remove the bags from the brackets in order to remove the brackets from the bike.
Works for now, maybe later I'll invest in easy brackets.
