My idle problem finally solved!

how they found and fixed the issue on bike.

I fought the same issue on my bike for a while till they hooked up to a testing machine and one of the techs notice some incorrect readings that were causing the computer to try to correct its self incorrectly. He dug deeper into it and found that the battery cables were routed on top of the air lines and for the sensors, They rerouted it and I got all the power back and performance that I had when I bought it again.

Wat I have found is that if you run to long with the stepper motor unpluged the eng will run ****ty at low speeds wen trying to go slow and steady like in town runs like its missing sounds like **** I have dismantled my stepper motor and cleened and lube up the auger a few times now It is running ok at the moment put about 300 klm since the last cleen Just a thought in the futer I am going to keep the water hose away from it the vent hole in the face of the thing is realy small and its covered with a screen but maybe moisture is getting in I dont know just my 2 cents

You could use TuneBoy to check the Map sensor and see if they give the same reading across all cylinder's. They should all have similar numbers and respond the same when you rev the motor.

Idle Problem solved

I had a idle problem and it seamed intermittent at first then would stall all the time I UN MOUNTED THE STEPPER MOTOR,
THAN STARTED THE BIKE
Found THE STEPPER MOTOR WAS NOT MOVING THE FULL THROW BUT SEAMED TO WAS TRYING Replaced STEPPER MOTOR
PROBLEM SOLVED
Wondering what the cost of a new stepper motor is???

Remember to check amd clean the crank angle sensor every 3-5000 miles as Gothlander has suggested, as it can collect metal shavings and cause an idling and some other problems with these bikes!

I was wondering where this is located and would this cause it to backfire and not idle it runs great if you keep it revved up but soon as i let off it backfires through the carb and won’t idle and now check engine light is on

Crank sensor might not be your problem but it is a good idea to clean it say every oil change. easy job right below the starter 8mm bolt. You might lose about a table spoon of oil so have a rag down there. Pull it wipe her clean and install. Pictured below.

As for that being the problem I highly doubt it, but let me ask you a couple questions.

- Which map do you have in the ECU ? There was a recall for an idle fix on the early 05 -06 and some 07's; easy recall just a reflash on the ECU. This is why I ask which map you have in the ECU. I see you put RamAir on and some type of M4 short muffler can. So again I would wonder about a proper map and not one too lean. With the age of your bike I would also be looking at replacing all 4 vacuum lines and all 4 vacuum cap plugs on the throttle body and look closely at the cheap plastic union where the 3 throttle body vacuum hoses connect to the large MAP sensor hose. Easier at these hoses' age to replace them versus trying to chase down a dry rot crack that opens and closes. That being said I would check and verify the bike has a good TPS sensor which probably needs to be changed ( if it were mine I would in case it's an original one which had a higher failure rate causing weird high idle and regular idle problems). I also recommend an ISCV reset. I've gone through most of this on my 06 and 07; some I would say is just normal to age versus mileage.

Now can you elaborate on the fuel controller that you stated was added?

Ok I went out today after being gone for two weeks tried to start it and I have no fire at all I even tried ether straight in the carbs. Any idea what would cause that
