Muscle bike shoot out

But your car won't do the quarter in under 10.

What??!? The mighty Tracker won't run 10's?????

10 minutes maybe. I learned a long time ago that the more performance you want, the more moolah it costs and the ratio of moolah to performance is lineal.

You get to a point and then the dollar figure increases dramatically for the amount of performance gained.

It's the 'you need deep pockets for minute performance.

That's called diminishing returns. I learned a long time ago that if I just get on the **** thing and ride, then the return to cost ratio is much more satisfactory.

Initial investment = $18K (average for my bikes, including accessories)
Insurance = $250 a year
Gas & maintenance = $1k a year

The first year cost around $3.85 a mile. The next 4 (average warranty period) is around $0.25 a mile.

Add 10K in accessories and the cost per mile jumps to $5.85 a mile.

Bottom line, ride the hell out of it and you'll get more value!

Vmax

THE MAX is comfortable and smooth we were out riding yesterday and the max got 41mpg whats your ROCKET getting??? and STAR offers some nice windscreens IF your going to play JOE HOT ROD and race around all day your going to suck up some fuel but no worse than the ROCKET

IMFASTTOO, I was just curious what is the longest trip you have made on the Max? I know it's fast I rode a used "for sale" one back in 96, but it didn't have a second gear so I passed. For the way I ride my bike (when I get the chance) I don't mind my 38.5 mpg on the hwy at all especially when I consider the weight of 1) me (240-250), 2) the weight of all my stuff (tools, tire repair kit, compressor, etc...) in my Beetle Bags and 3) my T-Bag and roll set up (like I had for my Key West trip last year...see photo album). That was an 855 mile trip in one day...is the Max up to that kind of riding?

As for the tools that I carry in the beetle bags, I carry a good assortment in case I run into any biker or motorist that needs some help, I'll have to weigh the box I put everything into when I get back, it must have been close to 50 lbs by itself (I emptied the bags out when I left my Rocket to be used as a "display" bike at my dealer).
