I am just amazed that they can sell such a crap tire. This is what mine looks like after a whopping 7000 easy miles. No wonder my handling went to hell.
Reading only the orignal post, here's my read on that tire:
You corner moderately hard, riding 10-15 over the limit regularly, but don't go for extreme lean angles. You are consistent on the throttle through the turn, holding steady input most of it. You don't brake late usually, and are a generally safe/conservative rider.
The Metzler M880 is a sub-par tire. Flat out, it's only "acceptable", nothing more.
Switch to an Avon and enjoy increased grip, feel, and turn in input. Additionally, enjoy even wear and a tire you actually finish across the whole tread instead of just the sides.
Sorry, I'm a bit in the bottle at the moment, however, I'd suggest lowering pressure a touch. The R3T will be significantly rear weight biased, meaning, you can drop the front from 40 to 36 PSI, it'll help both increase grip and even out the wear.
