Mad Max

Ahh the dreaded zener diode. That cool looking finned thing under the headlight that was supposed to work as a heat sink to turn excess power into heat. Lucas Prince Of Darkness. I don't know much about auto electrics but what would have been wrong with a regulator? Call me stupid if thats a stupid question. The one thing owning a 1969 TR6 tought me about anything electrical is if you let the smoke out it's had it.

The Zener diaodes didn't they just absorb the extra voltage that was produced how come you blew them up . On my bonneville it was bolted onto the right hand side panel from what I remember

See you remember where it was it must have give you trouble.

P.S. I'll work out how to do multiple quote's 1 day.

No I knew it was there because I pulled my 73 Bonnie to pieces to respray the frame, tank and side covers ,there it was hiding behind the right hand side cover ,never had a problem with it

Why would you want to use anything other than an XC Falcon Hardtop or the Nightriders black HQ 2 door Monaro? Both iconic Australian muscle cars.
Agree, you guys had the cool cars, (i don't know about now)
I researched that car before i knew what it was, it looked like a highly modified Ford Maverik, i wanted one bad, no luck

Well there's the legendary 1969 Mach 1 GT that would blow the doors off them. I had one just like this in 1970. After i beat it to a pulp and sold it with only twenty teeth left on the fly wheel for $500.00 ...My bad.

XC Falcons are mostly Ford Mustang running gear and drivetrain. Just with an Australian designed body. The one in Mad Max had an after market fiberglass front on it and a bit of a air dam thing on the roof other than that it was Australia's version of the Mustang only we had a choice of 2door hardtop, 4door sedan, stationwagon, panelvan or ute. All with the option of 351 V8 4 speed and 9 inch diff.

New a bloke that imported a mustang and rebuilt it I think it was about 1970 model he said it was easy to get brake, suspension and steering parts as it was identical to XC Falcon. I'd think the Holden HQ Monaro would be mostly chevy running gear. They ran the Aussie engines in the HQ but the earlier HK, HT and HG had the option of the chevy 307 or 350. The HQ was the first model Holden to have chevy wheel stud pattern so that probably means they had American brakes and suspension and theres plenty of them around the custom car scene had big block chev power dropped in.
