Low Profile Front Tire: Why not?

Would change the rake angle & rolling radius ( unless you put a bigger wheel in) which would change the handling...mebbe for the worse? I dunno

Yeah, I figured it would be because of some safety (handling) issue. I have lowered other bikes that way, but I do worry about safety and handling issues with such a large motorcycle.

In my experience the thing that screws up the frount end most of all is soft forks & not enough tyre pressure. Standard springs seem to go dangerously soft by the time you have done over 20k KMs. Holding the bike at standstill & bouncing the frount end, mine was like a fekking rockinghorse ( same with a mates bike) .I put progressive springs in ( well MPE in Beerwah, Queensland did) & the frount is transformed. much stiffer & corners SOOO much better. I also reckon 41-42 psi makes a huge difference in the tyre ( better) than if youve let it drop to 38 or so.

Actually cornering would improve with less rake (raising the rear of the bike an inch will make handling improve). Rake provides straight line stability. The problems would come in the form of hard parts on the ground in a corner due to loss of ground clearance and increased steering effort. The front of the bike would be lower than the rear (not a major problem) but that also puts the engine mass lower to the pavement as well. Rolling into a corner would take more steering effort (due to lowering the center of gravity, the axis around which the bike must turn) and the pegs (and hard bits) would start scraping very early at modest lean angles. If you added another 3 inches of fork tube it would be more doable, but the effort to make it turn would probably wear you out in twisty stuff (even a moderate version of Deals Gap or HWY 23 in Arkansas would need gorrilla arms). If you spend 95% of your time in a straight line it would look cool.

I lowered mine but went back to standard rear shock height i left the front forks at 5mm higher in the yoke which did improve the steering but if you go much further you get a bit of a speed wobble.I thought i could compromise lowering the bike and using rearsets but it didnt work out.All right if you dont want to go round corners in a hurry. If you like the twisties youll just scrape everything if its lowered.Even your exhausts.
