Dear Riii owners group,

You have a marvellous web site here. I am looking for a good Riii to buy for a trip planned in early June this year, starting on the bike from San Francisco (Hollister).

I have been checking the classified for bikes for sale and (can you feel a comment coming here) there are a number of bikes that are already sold. Some of them state that the bike is sold after you open up the advert but a number were still on the site as available but only after I enquired did it transpire that they were infact already sold. Now I understand that you cannot do anything about the simpltons who don't update their adverts but for those that are declared as sold would it be possible to indicate on the front summary page that the item is no longer available for sale. I think it is good to leave the those items on the site after they are sold as the act as good information and are also a fine advert for the site as to its' ability to enable sales.

Now I'm not really a grumpy old brit. I'm actually a fearless rider afraid only of road markings and drain covers on wet roads. and really looking forward to my trip.

All the best to you all and if anybody has a nice Riii for sale nearby Hollister pls let me know

Hope You Find An R3

TT..... Welcome and glad you like the site. Where are you riding on your trip. Let us know in case there are other Captains along your route that you could meet and greet. You make a good point about a way to let shoppers know if something is already sold on the front side of the ad.

Sorry about the old ads.... no has yet to notify me that items have been sold.

No one bothers to read the rules for the classified section either.

I think I'll just delete old ads from here on out.

Welcome to the website BTW :D

so are you going to ship it back when your done? Or sell it off.. is your trip from SF to ????

just curious...

chech out craigs list and Ebay as well as cycletrader

I'm not sure yet if I want to ship the bike back to UK. It all depends upon purchase price. Potential resale price UK/USA. How much I like it and cost for shipping from US to UK.

Have logged onto to all the relevant sites for purchase but I think that in the end I will buy from a dealer. There are too many problems to overcome buying privately when I am deling from the UK.

The tour starts with our arrival in JFK NewYork and then a train trip to San francisco via Chicago. We will arrive in Emeryvalle on the 9th June. A formal welcome would be rather good but I do find the whole "red carpet" routine quite tiresome these days. So a small informal gathering and an escorted ride into town will be fine.
