Longhaul Seat

I found them when I googled 'gel pads' and am keeping them in mind, however I think they look ****e when fitted over the seat and would prefer if they were inside - which is a possibility. I'm keeping an eye on a Classic seat that is for sale, this would give me a base to play around with.

That part number is the same as the Longhaul seat which is basically the same as the standard Classic seat but with the ability to take a back rest.

That price was very good, cheapest I found including Back Rest was £215, .
 
Sheepskin with a gel pad works well. It also ventilates and prevents your nether regions from sticking.
I did try a sheepskin on the Harley - but was VERY hot here and that's why I tried an Airhawk. Maybe with VERY short wool or wooly side in would work better - that I did not try.
 
All these suggestions are great but I maybe should have mentioned I come in the 'short-arse' category with an inside leg of 29" - I can't have that much extra padding. :lol:

Then I'd be very tempted to get the seat surface dished a bit and Gel pads inserted. This should lower it a bit.

Backrest will most certainly help in keeping your bum closer to the bars as well - this affects spinal muscles and should stop you rolling back onto your tail bone.
 
Got around to changing seat and adding the backrest.

Did 50 miles each way, to London Motorcycle Museum Triumph Day last Saturday.

The backrest was set on Number 1, it's still just a tad too far forward, but it feels a lot better on base of spine.

The seat itself did not feel much different to original seat without the backrest hole.

Have to do more miles to see just how much better this will work out.

Will have to get the backrest to raise a little higher, its fully extended upwards, will have to extend the slot a little.

When I get the time, I will make up a new spin wheel with lower adjusting steps on it, to get the arm to go back a little further, or maybe remove a little metal from the arm itself, it could do with a little more rearward adjustment.

So far so good.
