Found this video informative regarding vibration testing of different nut locking methods, especially given how many parts have vibrated off my '14 Roadster in the past year (foot peg pads, bear claw, exhaust heat shield, radiator shroud). Vibration test videos start around the 1 min mark.

Considering how long an M16 bolt, correctly torqued, will stay done up in normal use, they must be some pretty severe vibrations they are using. I have never had a nut/bolt with a lock-washer ever come loose.

I wonder if that Nord-Lock washer would help with that pesky little bolt in the gearbox. o_O

I've owned my Roadster for a good while now and have never anything come loose. I wonder if your bike has a vibration issue of some sort?

I can't feel any sort of unusual vibration issue. I've had 4 Triumph dealers check it out, and they didn't notice anything strange. (Doesn't mean that there still couldn't be one.) The dealer who promised that they put loctite on all bolts as part of the 500-mile service didn't put it anywhere that I've looked so far. I haven't gotten around to loctite-ing everything yet, but have done all bolts I've worked on so far.

I would've hoped that after 120+ years of making motorcycles that Triumph would have a better solution for keeping bolts tight than just check and retighten every 10,000 miles...

Honestly, the torque specs on a lot of things are silly. There are barely more than finger tight....

Just a touch tighter plus blue loctite, you won't have issues. 9nm on many fasteners , get real triumph.

Had the same issues, which mostly disappeared after the first year.
Do still have to keep a close eye on my CES header nuts - even with Hi-temp thread lock.

Aside from losing nuts, this locking system seems pretty incredibly designed!

Time to see if they will do them in black zinc finish:p
